Do you want to discover the most beautiful landscapes of the French Riviera?
The ones that make you dream?
Here's a selection of the most beautiful places in the Alpes-Maritimes just for you.
Between sea and mountains…
Perched at over 600 meters above sea level, the Simboula Trail offers a unique experience: walking quite literally suspended above the Mediterranean. Located in the Grande Corniche Departmental Park, this walk is one of the most spectacular on the French Riviera, combining preserved nature with breathtaking panoramic views.
The trail starts at Fort de la Revère, a former military structure nestled on the heights between sea and mountains. Built at the end of the 19th century to protect Nice, the fort now overlooks a vast natural area. It serves not only as a convenient starting point with parking facilities, but also as a historic site surrounded by wild landscapes typical of the Nice hinterland.
Fort de la Revère
The fort was part of the defensive system designed after the annexation of the County of Nice by France in 1860. Its strategic position made it possible to monitor the coastline and protect Nice from potential invasions coming from Italy.
With its massive walls, moats, and architecture typical of mountain military forts, it still stands today as a testament to a time when the region was a sensitive military area.
Unfortunately, it is not open to visitors… ☹️
The Simboula Trail
Once parked, simply follow the signs toward the Maison de la Nature to reach the start of the trail. The route is particularly pleasant: wide, flat, and well maintained, it is perfectly suited for beginners, families, and even strollers.
Allow about 1 to 1.5 hours of walking, depending on your pace and how much time you spend admiring the scenery.
Along the way, viewpoints unfold one after another: the village of Èze below, Cap-d'Ail, La Turbie, Nice Airport, and the Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula all appear on the horizon in a spectacular setting.
Picnic tables are also available on site, inviting you to extend the experience and fully enjoy the calm and beauty of the surroundings.
